Who We Are
TAP Films – a Cape Town-based production company working with both international and local clients.
We make kiff films from commercials, music videos, and creative brand content, to reality television and feature films. No Project is too big or too small for our team. The Tap Films Team is made up of passionate creatives and combined we have a wealth of experience that enables us to take your project
from concept to reality.
TAP Films was founded by Paul Michael Charles and Thomas Salpietro after a trip to Malawi in 2016 where they wrote a pilot for a travel show called “Beers of the World” (in development). Since then, they have written a horror Trilogy “Pineville” and so, naturally the next step was to start our film company. TAP Films was born.

Our Team
Paul Michael Charles
Director – D.O.P
Paul Michael Charles is our Director and D.O.P. He has worked worldwide from shooting the worldswimsuit TV shows in the Maldives and Malaysia to shooting reality TV in the Middle East. Paul’s love for cinematic stories inspired him to shoot his new found love for fashion with a different approach.
He is brilliant at provoking emotion through narrative and slow and steady shots. He has worked with international clients such as Next UK, H&M, Yardley London, Aurtate NY, and many more. This led Paul to the commercial arena and has now shot several TV Commercials for local brands such as Ackermans, Spree, Tanquery and Origin. Paul has worked on many documentary projects throughout a large part of Africa. His most recent one includes shooting for the Liverpool FBC, documenting the story of Naby Keïta in Guinea west Africa. He was the Director of Photography on “Model” which is currently on Netflix and he co-wrote and produced the 10 part series.
Thomas Salpietro
Executive Producer – Production Designer
Thomas Salpietro has a terrific eye for detail and vast knowledge of filmmaking.
He has 17 years of experience in the art department working closely with directors/producers and production designers worldwide.
His jobs include James Cameron’s Avatar, Ti West’s movies X and Pearl, and he recently worked with the Russo Brothers on Extraction 2.
Thomas has collaborated with popular studios like Netflix, Legendary, A24 and Disney. Tom brings the international Hollywood experience to TAP.
